Welcome
Welcome to Lucaya International School!
Lucaya International School (LIS) is an extraordinary school; made so by a tradition of educational excellence. Establishing, nurturing, and growing such an exceptional learning community has been and remains intentional; the focus of our school is supported by our aspirational Mission, Philosophy and Goals. Passionate, experienced, and qualified teachers, leaders and Board, sharing a common commitment to fulfill these school guiding statements and together we all want the very best education for your child and for your family.
LIS is dedicated to making sure we implement and sustain programs proven to be most effective for student learning and wellbeing. A differentiating characteristic of our appeal is our strong sense of community and where learning is engaging for all our students.
LIS enjoys a proven track record of excellent learning outcomes, with students attending colleges and universities that are right for them. Our commitment to realizing students' potential is built around providing a personalized and balanced education that addresses their academic and, as importantly, their social-emotional and physical wellbeing.
LIS is the only accredited International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO), Primary Years Programme (PYP), Diploma Programme (IBDP), Council of International Schools (CIS), New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC) and Council of International Education (CIE) on the island of Grand Bahama. This provides clear direction for our school community in an ever-evolving educational landscape and supports LIS in being able to offer large school opportunities in our small learning community.
The school draws from both international and Bahamian families, with more than thirty nationalities comprising the student body and a teaching faculty of over ten nationalities. The LIS family celebrates inclusion in many different ways to ensure that the school community is well connected to the local and global community.
I am excited to begin the 25th year of LIS educating Grand Bahamians and international students alike and look forward to future developments and endeavors that will support our students from Pre-Kindergarten to Year 13 to become "confident individuals and conscientious citizens of the world, who pursue a lifelong commitment to personal development and service to others."
Kind Regards,
Vikki Purvis
